Numerology (ank jyotish) reads meaning in the numbers of your life: the digits of your date of birth and the letters of your name turned into numbers. Each number from 1 to 9, and the master numbers 11, 22 and 33, is linked to a set of qualities and to a planet.
Unlike a birth chart, numerology needs no birth time or place, which makes it a useful reading when the time of birth is not known.
The life path number comes from your full date of birth reduced to a single digit (or a master number), and is read as the main theme of your life.
Mulank, the root or psychic number, is your day of birth reduced to one digit: someone born on the 23rd has mulank 5. It describes how you see yourself.
